Maybe it is just me, but do you ever want to hit a pause button for time? This year is half over and I still look outside and think it is the beginning of spring. I visited family a few weeks past, who commented they haven’t seen me since Christmas which I thought was just last month because I still have a Christmas decoration up. Time goes too fast and you can miss amazing moments if you are not careful.
I am finding that life presents you with moments intended to be savored. Like a fine wine, a season in life, a first kiss, a cup of tea with a favorite friend or any moment that literally takes your breathe away. So many people now are so busy they do not even realize that an amazing moment have come pass. There are so many things going on and with technology, people are connected and able to do more in a day. We are quick to move to the next task or to eager for the next step, we miss out on appreciating what is before us. I have recently been challenged with this question. Does doing more in a day make the day any better? I have been “scheduled” for as long as I can remember. Every hour of my life has been allocated to something. I have been driven to get the most out of everything – especially my days. You may already know how this is working out for me, but lately when it seems I should be scheduling my time more on a minute basis, I am finding that I am enjoying more life by not scheduling it at all. I still have this driving nature to go-go-go, but I am lured to pause, “to stop and smell the roses”. There are moments when I enjoy time not scheduled for anything particular and savory the moment I find myself at during that particular period of time. There is much to gain from sitting quietly drinking in these moments of life, reflecting on how truly amazing life is.
I believe time to reflect is underrated by many now days. Some regard it on occasion, but others find themselves consumed by busyness and neglect it. It’s regrettable; we truly live in one of the best countries in the world during a great period of time. There are endless possibilities now days’ all one has to do is dream. So many barriers that once were, are no longer. We have technology now that connects us together, improves our living and encourages the imagination to pursue the beyond. We are only a stone throw away from a majestic moment. Savor it, reflect on it; to live life to the fullest is to recognize that you already are. My wish for you is an opportunity to pause and enjoy these moments life grants you and overwhelm you with joy and happiness.
