Everywhere you click you see people writing about goals and resolutions for 2015. These are important and I have those as well, but I wanted to offer a little twist to you.
Something New
Reflecting and preparing for the New Year I find it vitalizing to have something new to look forward too. I think it can be easy for someone who does not have something new to look forward to become quickly bored in life, maybe a little glum or succumb to an unhealthy habit when you allow life to bump you along. That is not how we were created to be; we were intended to trek in life relishing in new adventures, new friendships, new victories and new depths in our relationships. Our Creator has great and mighty plans for us, but they will not come into fruition until we take a step of faith. Let’s not just plan, but pick something new to do in 2015. Even if it is to try a new food, let’s do something new and revitalize our appetite for life!
Something Borrowed
I typically do not like to borrow items. I live in a home with a male adult, two male beagles and a male cat – all avid hunters. Items in our home have a bad habit of being misplaced or misused for the higher purpose of the wild call of the rugged outdoors. But this year, I do want to borrow something; a sewing machine.
That seems weird you say, but to me – a sewing machine has put many things into perspective. Last fall I joined a mission with my mother and grandmother to learn how to quilt. Somewhere among learning how to turn on a sewing machine (yes, this was my first time) and learning how to cut material correctly, I realized just how important it is to spend your time wisely and with ones you love the most. I may not be sewing a masterpiece, but I have been sewing more into my life than ever before and have reveled with just how blessed I am. My mother is incredible and even though it has been months, she still stops what she is doing to help me untangle the thready mess I get myself into. But not just in sewing class, in life too. I have taken for granted how much this woman loves me and how much she continues to give for my growth. My grammy & I have always had a remarkable connection. Growing up, I could never get enough time with her. These classes have reminded me of the familiar rhythm we have together and at the end of class, I still cannot get enough of her. So I am going to borrow a sewing machine this year and “sew” into my life. Can I challenge you on what you would like to borrow this year?
Something Blue
This is a little stretch, so bear with me. I have dedicated 2015 as “BLUE”less and a thank”FULL” year. Life is hard, but life is also short and I want to chronicle my memories on all the blessings and use the rest as lessons to learn by. The best way to attain joy and live life to the fullest is to find something to be thankful for. So I have started a thank”full” track. First on the list – YOU! I started this crazy writing journey out on a limb of my hearts desire. You have taken a chance to subscribe to me and it is my sincerest hope you are able to connect to peace and hope through these words here. Sharing my thoughts has taken me out of my comfort zone and challenged me in ways I could never have done without you, who I consider my blogging friend.
So 2015 I toast to you! May we continue to unveil together the bounteous life we are intended to have.

I am so happy to have been able to take a quilting class with my daughter (Jennifer) and my mom (Judy). We had fun and are still working on them. Three generations, how wonderful the feeling. Making memories. Make each day count , each day is a gift from God. My daughter is a special blessing and a wonderful young woman. I’m truly blessed to have her, and I love her very much. My moms pretty awesome too!
